I get the double chocolate brownies at Starbucks frequently, but lately, I’ve been making this version that I came up with at hope because it’s so much fresher, so moist and chewy, AND so much more affordable! I love Starbucks, but I don’t love their prices. If I can get all that great flavor at home, I totally will!

This delicious, super-chocolaty recipe starts with a simple brownie batter that makes a nicely chewy, never cakey brownie. YUM! About 3/4 of the chocolate chunks go right into the batter. When it’s all done, I have super moist and chewy brownies that are every chocolate lover’s dream!

How to Make This Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownie Recipe

Making these brownies is so quick and easy. The ingredients do all the work! You just have to mix and bake. That’s it!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line 7×11, 8×8, or 9×9 in baking pan with parchment paper. Crumble up the parchment paper before lining the pan.
  2. Melt the butter in the microwave and let it cool slightly. Then, mix it with the eggs, sugar, and vanilla in a stand or hand mixer with the paddle attachment.
  3. Add the cocoa powder and continue mixing until combined.
  4. Add the flour and salt to the mixture and mix again.
  5. Add 1 1/2 cups of the chocolate chunks into the batter and stir to combine. Spread out the batter into the prepared baking pan. Scatter the remaining chocolate chunks to the top of the batter.
  6. Bake for 24 to 30 minutes or until the edges are just set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no thick batter. Try not to over bake.
  7. Cool the brownies in the pan on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes to an hour until set and cool.
  8. Cut into 8 rectangles just like Starbucks brownies and enjoy!

  • Be sure to let the butter cool a bit so you don’t scramble the eggs.

  • Remove the brownies from the oven immediately after they pass the toothpick test so they don’t overbake.
  • Leave an overhand when lining your pan with parchment paper so you can use the parchment paper to lift out the brownies.
