These cookies start with a simple sugar cookie dough that bakes up soft, fluffy, and chewy. Just dole out the dough in scoops and roll each scoop in sprinkles, then  bake the cookies until they’re firm around the edges, being carful not to overbake them. After that, just let them cool, and then everyone can enjoy. Their simple, sweet flavor, soft texture, and pretty Halloween colors make them a hit at any party or anytime.

You’ll only need a handful of simple baking ingredients to make this recipe. They’re all either in your kitchen or at your local grocery store. Even the Halloween sprinkles should be readily available almost anywhere.

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea or kosher salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1  teaspoons vanilla extract (my favorite)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups Halloween sprinkles of your choice of sprinkles 

How to Make Halloween Sprinkle Cookies

Making this recipe is a very straightforward affair. The dough is simple, and coating it in the sprinkles is easy. Anyone can do it!

Yields: Between 18 and 24 cookies depending how small or large your scoops are..

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Beat the butter, sugar, vanilla, and eggs in a stand mixer or with a hand mixer until combined.
  3. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  5. Add the sprinkles to a small bowl.
  6. Scoop out balls of dough with a small cookie scoop and roll in sprinkles.
  7. Place the balls onto the cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until firm around the edges. Try not to over bake.
  8. Cool pan on wire rack for a few minutes then, slide the paper onto the the wire rack to cool more. After about 15 minutes, using a spatula, place the cookies onto the cooling rack to cool completely.  Enjoy!

Substitutions and Variations

  • Try making these cookies with a snickerdoodle base by adding a few sprinkles of ground cinnamon.
  • If you don’t have Halloween sprinkles, use sprinkles with Halloween colors like green, purple, yellow, or orange.
  • Use any colored sprinkles for any or no occasion.
