Chick-Fil-A sauce. Is there anything better? That sweet, tangy sauce is so delicious when you dip your crispy chicken fingers, fries, chicken sandwiches, and even veggies taste so great dipped in this sauce. This copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce is everything we love about the classic sauce, and it’s so easy to make, too!

I don’t know about you, but when I go to Chick-Fil-A, I get their delicious signature sauce no matter what I’m ordering. It’s the perfect condiment. I mean, you can dip anything into it, and it’s going to be delicious. Now, don’t go dipping your chocolate chunk cookie into it. This sauce is great, but let’s not get crazy. However, anything else is fair game. Chicken fingers? Yes. Sandwiches? For sure. Fries. You haven’t lived until you have.

The flavors of this sauce are what make it so versatile. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tangy, which is why it pairs perfectly with almost anything on or off the menu. If you love Chick-Fil-A sauce as much as I do – or if you’re just a fan of great dipping sauces – this is the recipe for you.

History of Chick-Fil-A Sauce

As delicious as this sauce is, you’d think that Chick-Fil-A food scientists spent months crafting the perfect sauce, painstakingly picking the right ingredients to create a sauce that would keep the public coming back for more. While you would think that, you’d be totally wrong. Like so many delicious foods out there, Chick-Fil-A sauce was a complete and total accident.

The sauce was invented – or more accurately, stumbled upon – in the early 1980s in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A restaurant team member at a local branch accidentally mixed barbecue sauce with a honey mustard recipe that franchise operator, Hugh Fleming, had created. As Bob Ross would say, it was a “happy accident”, and it created one of the most well-known and beloved dipping sauces of any franchise.

Making the Sauce

If you thought the ingredient list was simple, just wait until you make the sauce. The full instructions are in the recipe card at the end of this post, but the Cliff’s Notes version is simple: You measure, and you mix. That’s it. There’s no cooking, no waiting, no anything. Just mixing. I can’t think of a recipe that’s easier.

Directions:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients with a whisk until smooth and combined. You can use right away or place in fridge for an hour to chill. That’s it!

What to Serve with Chick-Fil-A Sauce

How about steak? Absolutely. Any sort of meat can be dipped or topped with this sauce, and it’s going to be absolutely delicious. It’s even a great sauce for fries and burgers. Here’s a list of some of my favorite things to dip into and top with this dip.

  • Steak Fingers
  • Burgers

Storing the Sauce

This sauce is made with nothing but condiments, so it has an incredibly long shelf life in the refrigerator. In most cases, you’ll be making it in one-meal batches, however, if you love it enough to make up a large amount for future use, it will keep well in the refrigerator in an air-tight bottle or mason jar for as long as the expiration dates printed on the condiments used to make it.
