Copycat Joanna Gaines’ Chocolate Chip Cookies

This easy recipe for Joanna Gaines’ famous chocolate chip cookies makes a delicious batch of everyone’s favorite kind of cookie, a chocolate chip cookie.  Basic ingredients is all you need. Grab the recipe and enjoy!

If you watch the channel HGTV, you probably have seen the show “Fixer Upper” with Chip and Joanna Gaines.

It’s an hour long show that happens to be my favorite show on the HGTV channel.

These two are beyond talented and oh what I would give for Joanna to do her magic inside my house.

Well, I don’t live in Waco Texas so I guess that’s not going to happen. I can only dream.

Now, getting on to these fabulous cookies…

They are the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.

Joanna put together a simple, yet basic recipe that just works so well to make a perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe.

If you have been on this blog before, you know there are bunches of chocolate chip cookie recipes.

The most popular recipe on my blog happens to be another copycat chocolate chip cookie.

It is also fabulous. The name of this famous recipe is, Copycat New York’s Famous Levain Bakery’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. Click the link to bake up another time.

Levain Bakery is a famous bakery in New York City. I tried their cookie years ago and knew I must find a way to make these for my blog so I did and they taste really close to the original Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie.

Okay, back to Joanna’s recipe.

What I really like about her recipe is like I said before, it’s made with  simple, basic ingredients you probably already have in your pantry and fridge.

Of course they taste so delicious which is the most important part of any recipe.

Just a note, I have changed the recipe slightly, Joanna’s original recipe called for 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, my recipe has 1 3/4 teaspoons. Also, Joanna’s original recipe had 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips. Mine has 2 full cups. You can use the original amounts or mine. Both ways come out just right for a perfect chocolate chip cookie.

So, with all that said, give this recipe a try and enjoy every crunchy, chewy bite!

What Are The Directions To Make Joanna’s Chocolate Chip Cookies?

Here are the simple directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Position racks to be in the middle/center of the oven.  Line two rimmed cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the dry ingredients. Set aside.
  3. Using a stand mixer or hand held mixer, whip the butter until smooth. Add in the sugar and whip until creamy and fluffy. Add in one egg at a time along with the vanilla extract. Combine completely.
  4. Gradually add in the flour mixture. It’s easy with a large serving spoon. Mix on medium until all the flour is combined. Stop the mixer. Using a rubber spatula, dig down to incorporate any dry flour into the wet. When that’s all combined, toss in the chocolate chips and mix on slow speed until they are combined. Try not to over mix. You can fold the chips in with a rubber spatula too.
  5. Using a small to medium cookie scoop, scoop out balls two inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. (Don’t flatten the dough). Bake for 9 to 11 minutes. Check after 9 minutes. The cookies should be lightly golden brown. Try not to over bake. This will keep the cookies chewy on the inside.
  6. Cool pans on wire rack for about 5 to 7 minutes then, transfer the cookies with a spatula to the wire rack to cool more.

Enjoy the cookie deliciousness!
