Pecan Pie Bars

Thank you to my dearest friend Regina for sharing this fabulous recipe. These sweet and salty pecan pie bars are simple to make and are the perfect sweet and salty dessert. Everyone you serve these to will love them. 

My friend Regina is such a wonderful cook and baker.I’m so lucky she’s shared many of her recipes here. Getting back to  these delectable pecan pie bars now. They l have the perfect amount of sweetness, saltiness and crunch. Great for edible gifts and for any dessert table. I’ve brought these to potluck dinners and these go really fast when set out.

Pecan Pie Bars

Yields: 12 to 15 bars

 

What you’ll need to make these  sweet and salty pecan pie bars…

Ingredients:

  • For the crust

    • 1 1/2 sticks cold unsalted butter
    • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
    • 2/3 cup light brown sugar
    • 1 tsp fine sea or kosher salt

 

 

  • For the filling

    • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
    •  1/4 to 1/2 tsp fine sea or kosher salt
    • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
    • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
    • 3 cups coarsely chopped pecans

How they’re made…


Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Line 13 x 9 baking pan with foil then butter
  3. In a food processor blend crust ingredients until mixture resembles coarse sand.  Add 2 tbsp cold water until dough just holds together
  4. Press dough in the prepared baking pan and bake until golden – 20 to 25 minutes
  5. In a stand mixer cream until fluffy the butter, sugar and a pinch of salt.  Add corn syrup, flour and pecans.  Mix until combined.
  6. Spread filling over baked crust.  Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden.
  7. Use foil to pull the bar out of the pan to cool completely
  8. Cut  into squares. Can be stored up to 2 days in a sealed container.
