Chocolate Sweetheart Peanut Butter Cookies

A simple recipe that combines two delicious ingredients, chocolate and peanut butter. These chocolate sweetheart peanut butter cookies are a family favorite around here and maybe they will become a favorite with your family too!

I have been making these little chocolate sweetheart peanut butter cookies for years now.

Actually they started out as just a peanut butter cookie with a chocolate candy in the middle.

Then, one year when it was close to Valentine’s Day, my daughter Tori and I decided to make them into a Valentine cookie to share with her friends at her dance studio.

We made sure no one was allergic to peanut butter and it was a go.

When Tori found the little heart shape chocolates, she knew she wanted to call these sweetheart cookies and make them each year for her friends and some teachers too.

She’s grown up now and she told me she still makes them for her roommates and current boyfriend.

So, I make these every year as well since my son Josh and hubby Alan love the combo of  peanut butter and chocolate. Well, who doesn’t?  LOL!

It’s a perfect match in my book.

You are sure to love these cookies and have fun making them.

Just a recipe note.. You can use solid heart shape chocolates for the centers or peanut butter filled heart shaped chocolates. If they have other filled heart shaped chocolates try those too.

Both can be found in Walmart, Target, or online. I will highlight the ones I used for the cookies. I mixed and matched some solid and some peanut butter filled. Also, I used milk for the solid since it’s softer and when you bite into the cookie, it is the perfect bite of a chewy cookie and soft, melty chocolate. Yum!

I like the Reese’s hearts for the best peanut butter flavor and for the milk chocolate, I like the Dove or the Madelaine . But, look at your local stores first and see if they carry these yummy chocolates.

When it’s not Valentine’s Day, use any solid milk chocolate candy for these cookies. They still taste delicious and looks great.
