Dainty Tea Cookies

Thanks to my dearest friend Regina for sharing these beautiful and dainty tea cookies. Only a few ingredients and you have a buttery, melt in your mouth cookie that’s the perfect Christmas or anytime cookie. Enjoy!

These cookies are like the ones you see at the fancy bakery’s all throughout the year.

They are most popular during the holiday season. The recipe is so simple that they’re easy enough to make for any or no occasion at all.
This is a versatile cookie recipe so you can swap out the center and add any filling in the center such as nuts or chocolate for a nice variety.

The candied red and green cherries can be found in most grocery stores or online. I highlighted the links for the green and red I found on Amazon. But, look in the baking aisle for them.

Also, you can change around the extracts for a distinctive flavor.

Of course vanilla extract always works.

A note from Regina

I like to make these cookies during Christmas-time. The color of the cherries and the poinsettia shape of the cookie press make it so festive. These are one of my daughter’s favorite cookies. She scoops up a few right away just to be sure she gets some. ♥️

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp fine sea or kosher salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp extract (almond, brandy, rum, vanilla…your choice)
  •  red and green candy maraschino cherries cut in half, cherries, and pineapple

Here’s how to make dainty tea cookies…

Yields: about 2 dozen – all depends how small or large your cookie press is

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Sift together flour and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar.
  4. Add egg and mix thoroughly.
  5. Add dry ingredients.

  7. Put into a cookie gun with the flower disk.
  8. Press onto un-greased pans. Then add a 1/2 candied cherry into the middle of each cookie.
