Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough

Cottage cheese cookie dough is a fun way to enjoy cookie dough without the guilt. Made with cottage cheese, protein powder, and no refined sugar, this recipe is a snack that tastes bad for you but is so good – the perfect combo!

As you all know by now, I have a major sweet tooth. I enjoy my sweets, but I try to make healthy versions of my favorite snacks to help me stay healthy while I indulge.

I’ve added these cottage cheese cookie dough balls (really, they’re protein bites) to my sweet, healthy collection of recipes, and I love them. I keep them and other snacks like no-bake energy balls, keto chocolate fat bombs, and grab-and-go pantry muffins on hand at all times for healthy snacking.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups cottage cheese – 2% or 4%
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup regular or mini chocolate chips
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons cold water – if needed
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons coconut sugar – optional

Substitutions and Variations

  • You can make your own oat flour by grinding down 1 1/2 cups oats until fine.
  • Make a double chocolate version by using chocolate protein powder.
  • Whey or casein both work well in this recipe.
  • Add coconut for more flavor.

Equipment

1: Mix the cottage cheese, salt, vanilla, and maple syrup in a food processor or mini chopper until creamy.

2: Add the flours and protein powder and mix until combined. Add water if needed to create a cookie dough consistency.

3: Mix in the chocolate chips.

4: Roll the cookie dough into balls or leave it in a container for scooping. Chill for an hour and enjoy!

Storage

Refrigerate these balls in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Here's a healthy way to enjoy cookie dough. No eggs or raw flour to worry about. Just wholesome ingredients that turn into a most decadent chocolate chip cookie dough that's made with cottage cheese.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup  cottage cheese, 2 % or 4 % works best. I used Good Culture 
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder, whey/casein blend works the best
  • 1 cup if you make your own oat flour, start with 1 1/2 cups oats and blend in the blender or food processor until oats become flour, measure out 1 cup oat flour
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp teaspoon fine salt, I used sea salt
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup, honey or any sticky sweetener will work also
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3-1/2 cup regular or mini chocolate chips
  • 1-2 tsp  cold water if needed for texture and to help combine 
  • 1-2 tbsp dry sweetener like coconut sugar if you want sweeter. This is optional

Instructions

  1. 1.In a food process, mini food processor, or mini food chopper, combine the cottage cheese, salt, with the vanilla extract and maple syrup. Mix until the cottage cheese is completely combined and is creamy with no lumps.

     2. Add in the flours and protein powder. Mix until all combined.  Add water if needed to form a cookie dough. Stir or mix in chocolate chips until incorporated into the dough.

    3. Roll into balls or leave as a spoonable cookie dough. Set in fridge for half to one full hour. Enjoy! Store in fridge up to 3 days. Enjoy!
