Copycat Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino
This Copycat Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino is my newest Frappuccino to share with you.
If you have been on this blog before, you know there’s bunches of Starbucks recipes to see. The combo of chocolate and coffee is so delicious. Please check this easy-peasy frappe recipe out and enjoy!
Starbucks beverages are my all-time favorite things to drink—and make.
I used to go out and buy at least one or two Starbucks beverages, hot or cold each and every week.
It became ridiculous how pricy and expensive it got for my purse.
That happen to be a few years ago.
That’s when I decided to start making my own versions of my favorite beverages from Starbucks and even a few other places like Dunkin Donuts.
However, don’t get me wrong, I still go to Starbucks now and then. Especially when a new beverage comes out.
What usually happens is, I buy one and then try and go home to copy the original.
Well, I’m being honest, if I really like their newest, I get it twice and while on vacation or out and about with a friend or hubby, if they want to stop off at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, I’m right behind them!
The reason for the copycat recipes is the reason I gave before. It’s just too pricy to spend on a weekly basis.
At least I think it is.
So, getting to my copycat versions. Before I will post a recipe, I test it over and over again until I think it tastes very close to the original.
That’s the whole point of a copycat recipe. It must taste and have the mouth feel of your favorite beverage.
Also, all of my copycat recipes on the blog are easy to make right at home and costs just a fraction of what it is to buy one of Starbucks’ beverages.
This one I’m posting today for a Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino, tastes so close to the original and is so delicious.
As a matter of fact, all my taste testers liked this version better.
A combo of coffee and chocolate is the best. Love mocha everything!
While you’re here on the blog, there are other copycat recipes that are not beverages.
Just go to the search bar on the top right, all you have to do is put in copycat and a bunch of recipes will pop up.
From cakes to chocolate candy. You’ll have a lot to choose from.
Just a recipe note: I give you lots of variations in the ingredients for this Frappuccino.
Some of us like it with a higher fat milk and some of us like it sugar free.
Starbucks uses a mocha syrup for their java chip frappe.
Below, I posted the easy and quick recipe below or you can use store bought found in grocery stores or online at Amazon.
They make regular and sugar free.
You can also sub Hershey’s chocolate syrup in it’s place.
Again, comes in sugar free if you’re watching calories and sugars.
When making this Frappuccino, sometime I use mocha/espresso chips by Nestles. I found them on Amazon. (I highlighted the ingredients for you to check out) Other times I used semisweet or milk chocolate chips.
It’s whatever you prefer.

What You’ll Need To Make A Copycat Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino…
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of brewed espresso or coffee of choice, decaf also works. (Place the coffee in fridge to cool down before making your frappe)
- 2 tablespoons mocha sauce, regular or sugar free, below you’ll find my homemade version. Or, use regular chocolate syrup.
- 1- 1 1/2 tablespoons mocha chips or chocolate chips of choice, for a sugar free version try Lily’s, Hershey’s, or this one I found online. The Lily’s and Hershey’s can be found in most grocery stores and a bit too expensive online. (You can leave the chips out completely too)
- 1 cup milk of choice, whole milk, low fat milk, even skim will work. You can even add some half and half for a really rich tasting frappe.
- 1 cup ice, make sure it’s fresh. It’s very important for a great tasting frappe. Use more ice if needed to make thicker.
- optional – ¼ teaspoon xanthan gum, this is the secret that’s used in Starbucks, another option is 1 teaspoon dry instant chocolate or vanilla pudding, regular or sugar free, use dry mix only.
- whipped cream for topping, I used the one from the can. Like Reddi – Wip.
- extra syrup and chips for topping, this is optional.
- full printable recipe is below in the recipe box.
Perfection!
How To Make Your Own Java Chip Frappuccino At Home…

Delicious in any beverage like your morning coffee and of course in this Frappuccino..
