Ingredients

  • 1 large bunch thin asparagus spears, rinsed and trimmed of the woody ends.
  • 1-2 tablespoons  extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove  garlic, finely minced, or 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon  coarse sea or kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon  ground black pepper, optional
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons  fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Have a grill pan ready on your stove. Turn heat on low to heat up the grill for a minute or two. Now, place rinsed and trimmed asparagus in a large mixing bowl, toss with olive oil, garlic, and salt, and pepper if using. Mix with clean hands or tongs to coat all the asparagus. Arrange spears in a single layer on the grill pan.  Cook for about 7 to 10 minutes. This will depend of how thick or thin the spears are. After 5 minutes, you can shake the pan or with tongs, turn the spears over. This will give the asparagus the lovey grill  marks. Taste one spear after 7 minutes to see if it's tender to your liking. When ready place on serving platter. Drizzle lemon juice over the grilled asparagus. (The bright taste of lemon is great over asparagus) Enjoy this delicious, healthy side dish.
