Blue Butterfly Pea Smoothie

If you want something to sip on that’s cool, creamy, thick, and oh so delicious, you can’t go wrong with this blue butterfly pea smoothie. Made with ice cream, milk, Butterfly Tea for color with and mellow flavor and, topped with whipped cream. It’s a refreshing drink for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1 Butterfly Pea Flower Tea bag or 1 heaping teaspoon Butterfly Pea Tea mixed with 1/4 cup boiling water. Let sit until it turns purple. Put some  ice cubes in the glass and place in fridge to chill. Or, wait and use natural blue food coloring drops right before blending.
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream for fresh whipped cream, or use aerosol whipped cream
  • colorful sprinkles, jimmies, or any topping of choice
  • 1/2 tsp  vanilla extract, this is optional
  • pinch salt, this is optional 
  • 1/2 cup or so of ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Add tea to a heatproof mug, add in the boing water. Stir. Add a few ice cubes to cool off and set in fridge to chill. When chilled pour over a strainer right into the blender. Add ice cream, milk, pinch salt, and vanilla into blender over the chilled tea. (If using blue food coloring, add that now. Start out with a one or two drops until desired color)Toss in ice cubes. Whirl until thick and creamy. If you want more color, you can brew a 1/2 teaspoon more tea with a few tablespoons of boiling water. Follow step one again. Top with sprinkles of choice. Enjoy!
