  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, or one stick
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp sea or kosher salt
  • 6 tbsp powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts, pecans were used in this recipe
  • more confectioners sugar for coating cookies
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  1. 1.Heat oven to 350.

2.Sift flour with salt and confectioners sugar. Stir in nuts and set aside.

3.Cream butter with electric mixer until very light.

4.Beat in milk a little at a time until taken up by the butter.

    5.Add vanilla.

6.Gradually add flour mixture to the butter mixture; switching to a spoon when it gets too thick for the beaters.

7.Flatten the dough into a thin square. Wrap then chill until firm.

8.Cut up dough into uniform sized small squares, about 1/2″ wide.

9.Roll into balls and place onto a parchment lined cookie sheet.

10.Bake until bottoms are golden, about 10 to 12 minutes.

11.While still warm roll into confectioners sugar. Cool on wire rack.

12.Save the extra confectioners sugar to add to your air tight storage container. Enjoy!
