This recipe for a homemade refreshing smoothie bowl that’s made with acai and different and all different toppings and ad-ins. I like mixing the acai with dairy or vegan yogurt sometimes. Great for breakfast and lunch or anytime. Load up your bowl with your favorite fruits and nuts. Bet you’re going to love it!

Have you heard of Acai?

It’s relatively new in the United States but has been very popular in Brazil for the longest time.

Acai fruit is a berrylike fruit from palm trees found in Central and South America.

Acai is packed with antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids.

Makes for a great breakfast and even dessert.

These Acai  bowls have become pretty popular around Long Island and NYC lately.

Found in many yogurt shops and health food stores to.

They can be pretty pricey to say the least. I’ve found the prices can go for up to $16 dollars in some places. That’s way to much for me to spend for sure.

Now, you can easily enjoy acai at home for a fraction of the cost and tastes amazing!

I buy Acai frozen at Trader Joes. Many market now sell Acai as well as online. Whole Foods carries a frozen version that I just purchased. It was just as good as Trader Joe’s which I’ve been using for a while now. I hope you check out my recipe and love it like my whole family does. Be creative and use different fruits, nuts, and seeds for a nice variety.

Below. I will post a few pictures of other varieties of smoothie bowls. The skies the limit to what you can add in or top one of these smoothie bowls with.

Recipe note: The color of the smoothies can vary depending how much liquid such as non dairy milk you add into the smoothie or yogurt of choice.  Acai is dark in color, similar to a blueberry or blackberry. Some of the smoothies came out lighter than others with a pink or lavender tint. All are delicious for sure!
