Copycat Starbucks Coconut Milk Latte
This Copycat Starbucks Coconut Milk Latte is almost too good to be true! The recipe has only 3 ingredients and it’s so warming and delicious. Check it out and make one for yourself. It will take you just a few minutes.
Have you been to Starbucks lately? If you have—or even if you haven’t—let me fill you in on some of their new and old menu items.
They have been serving hot and cold beverages made with non dairy milks.
Not everyone realizes this. Most of the time the beverages are made with dairy milk.
Then they added soy milk a few years ago.
But, now they have coconut milk and almond milk to the menu with some really delicious hot and cold drinks.
I think they added the coconut milk and almond milk beverages around 2019.
That’s when I discovered the latte I’m sharing with you today. I also got to try their almond milk honey latte. I love that one so much and now love the coconut latte just as much. Best part is about both of these lattes is, I can easily make them at home in about five minute. Yep, that’s right!
Now, don’t get me wrong: I love Starbucks and I go often when out shopping in the mall. But, when home, that’s a different story.
My husband used to think I was nuts wanting to run out for my favorite Starbucks beverage, hot or chilled.
I didn’t care what the weather was, hot, cold, snow, rain. It got ridiculous. I was spending way too much money and time back and forth just for a craving.
That’s when I started to make these wonderful beverages at home.
I have shared a bunch right here on my blog over the years (scroll down for links to a few more copycat drinks) and that brings me back to this easy-to-recreate Starbucks Coconut Milk Latte recipe.
It’s made with only three ingredients that could cost over $4 for a small or as they call it a “short”. To me, that’s crazy. And, I usually get the Grande which is their large size. It’s a fraction of the cost to make these at home.
Just a recipe note: Starbucks uses a sugar called cascara/ It’s a rare sugar that’s actually from a coffee bean.
It’s hard to find anywhere. So, after a few times enjoying their coconut milk latte, I found coconut sugar or turbinado/demerara sugar tastes very similar and is the perfect substitute. To be honest, I couldn’t taste any difference using the coconut and the turbinado sugars. They are also really easy to find in just about any grocery store, super market, and of course Amazon.
I hope you make this for yourself and also the people you love. Remember this, sit down, relax and enjoy every last warm sip.

Yields: 1 Large/Grande – Easily doubled
Here’s The Three Ingredients That Make A Copycat Starbucks Coconut Milk Latte…
- 6 to 8 ounces brewed coffee or espresso, regular or decaf.
- ½ cup coconut milk, I used refrigerated coconut milk because it has much less calories and fat as the canned coconut milk has. But, go ahead and use the canned coconut milk if you choose.
- 1 tablespoon coconut sugar or turbinado sugar, (the two brands I used) any coarse brown sugar will work too.
- a pinch of cinnamon, this is optional.
- find the printable recipe below in the recipe box.
How Is This Delicious Latte Made…
- Brew a cup of coffee or espresso. While that’s going, steam the coconut milk simply by placing into a glass jar or mason jar. Put the lid on and shake for about 30 seconds.
- Take the lid off, this is very important! Place the open jar into the microwave and set to 20 seconds. Take out, if needed to put back in another 10 seconds then do so. You can also use a mini frother like this one. Found on Amazon. When using the frother, you’ll heat up the milk in an open jar or glass measuring cup in the microwave then froth right in the jar.
- Have a nice size mug ready, grab your freshly brewed coffee and pour into the mug. Now, add one teaspoon of the sugar into the hot coffee and mix well. (You can leave out for a less sweet latte)
- Pour the steamed milk right over the coffee. Don’t stir. It should sit right on top. Take the remaining sugar and spoon right over the frothed milk. (As seen in photo above). That’s it! Easy-peasy, warm and delicious.
