3 Ingredient Firecracker Pretzel Rods – Look how festive and cool these pretzel rods look. They were so much fun to make with the kids and oh boy, they taste yummy. Make some and enjoy!

We love sweet and salty desserts in my home. My husband especially loves anything that’s chocolate with a salty bite. These pretzel rods sure hit the bill with  him. I happen to use a good quality white chocolate this time around. You can use any white melting chocolate that you like the best. Just make sure it’s especially for melting and dipping. I will highlight the products I used for this recipe and give you other options that you can pick up in  your local craft stores or online like I did.

The great thing about these pretzel rods are they are so versatile. Change around the colors of the sprinkles for any or no occasion. Add some nuts, shredded coconut, or some mini M&Ms. Now that’s really yummy in my book! My son named these because he said the sprinkles reminded him of fireworks and firecrackers. You can call them what you think fits. Any name and  anyway you make these is the right way. By the way, these make great party favors and gifts. The melting chocolate holds its shape and they don’t have to be refrigerated. Have a good time making these, we always get chocolate all over the place, that’s half the fun!

3 Ingredient Firecracker  Pretzel Rods

Yields: about 22 to 24 pretzel rods – but, the recipe is easily cut in half

Ingredients:

  • 24 pretzel rods
  • 10 ounce bag Ghirardelli, Candy Making & Dipping, White Melting Wafers or Wilton Bright Whites Candy Melts Both work great!
  • colored sprinkles, I used these for this recipe

Directions:

  1. Line a large rimmed cookie sheet with wax paper.
  2. Melt chocolate according to package directions.
  3. Dip pretzels into melted chocolate, and using a spoon or small rubber spatula, cover pretzel about halfway with melted chocolate.
  4. Hold pretzels over the cup or bowl, allowing excess candy to drip off.
  5. Place on lined cookie sheet.  Top with sprinkles right away so that they can stick well.
  6. Place in refrigerator for about 20 minutes to harden. Trim off any excess chocolate if needed. Can be stored on counter up to 5 days sealed in a plastic bag or container.

Enjoy the best of sweet and salty!
